YOUNG people across Edinburgh can now sign up for text alerts on free activities in their area being financed through the CashBack for Communities scheme.
Free weekly updates on football events, rugby coaching, dance classes, music projects and drama groups will be sent straight to their mobile phones.

And a free monthly viral video will also be circulated to the youngsters who sign up.

The CashBack scheme uses the ill-gotten gains of convicted criminals for projects to benefit young people and communities.

Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said the scheme was making a real difference to the lives of young Scots people.

He said: "We want all our young people to have the opportunity to be all they can be.

"Whether they want to play football or rugby or learn a new skill like music or acting, young people should text CashBack to 61611 and sign up for activities that might not normally be available to them."
