Referendum bid on Lisbon fails
TYCOON Stuart Wheeler has failed in a bid to force a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty. An appeal judge held his challenge to the High Court's rejection of his case had "no prospect of success".
The treaty, meant to simplify EC decision making, has been ratified by the UK, but cannot take effect in Europe due to Ireland's No vote.
