Prime Minister told to go back to Blair basics

ONE of the architects of New Labour, Peter Mandelson, has warned that Gordon Brown risks losing power unless he identifies himself more clearly with the principles that won Tony Blair three general elections.
Mr Mandelson said the scrapping of the 10p income tax rate was "a very big mistake" that breached the New Labour tenet that the Government should help the poorest and neediest in society. But he said he believed the Prime Minister was still committed to the New Labour project.

Mr Mandelson identified the four key pillars of New Labour as fiscal discipline, investment and reform in public services, helping the poor and maintaining strong partnerships with Europe and the US.

And he warned: "Those were the four basic tenets of New Labour, and if they continued to be operated and improved so that they evolve, they will provide success for the Labour Party in the years to come.

"But if you abandon those tenets you are going to abandon key segments of public support for New Labour and I'm afraid that in those circumstances we're going to lose the next election."

This is a question of the blind attempting to lead the blind.

I do not condone violence, and although I am 67 years old I have never in my life brought physical harm to another human being. However, should I ever come within an arm's length of Peter Mandelson, I do believe no force on earth could stop me from punching him in the face with a force so hard he'd have to pick his nose through the back of his skull.

Blair basics eh?

Does that mean that he must cultivate a plastic put-on stupid grin? Lie through his teeth at every opportunity? Start laughing when someone asks a difficult question? Sack one of his ministers for scandal, then re-appoint him again later, only to repeat the process a few months down the line? Ask George Bush for advice on running the country? Laugh about it when one of his senior ministers punches someone? Surround everything with spin so that even the most astutue of us cannot see the wood from the trees? Take every item of bad news and sell it as good news?

No thanks. We've had more than enough of Blair Basics thankyou. All Brown needs to do is hand in his resignation and ask for an audience with The Queen.

I seem to recall that the basic Blair technique was taking a million quid from Bernie Ecclestone.

Labour was already on a serious popularity slide before Bliar resigned..... that's why he went 2 years before he'd intended to..... Broon's not changed a thing.... still illegal war in Iraq.... tax the poor.... hand outs to big business...... so they continue to slide.... surprise surprise!

When your party is 26 percentage points behind in the polls and your popularity is rock bottom, coming out with a statement like "risks losing power" is pretty bleeding obvious and a bit lame. Doomed to certain defeat and cast into oblivion might have been more accurate.

Or to put it another way “the daft leading the stupid”.

If Brown takes advice from Blair then we will know for certain that he is incapable of thinking for himself. Any Politician with a single brain cell would keep well away for Blair or any association with this exposed LIAR.

Just keep it coming New Labour. The SNP are laughing all the way to an early Independent Scotland!
