Politics festival in tie-up with Carnegie event

THE Scottish Parliament's Festival of Politics will reach year by joining forces beyond Holyrood this with the new Carnegie Festival in Fife.
The inaugural Carnegie Festival of Innovation and Enterprise, which celebrates the eclectic legacy of industrialist Andrew Carnegie, launches today on the Esplanade at South Queensferry.

It runs in Dunfermline from August 21 to September 7 offering a programme of events encompassing film, politics, innovation and enterprise.

The Festival is supported by the Scottish Parliament's Presiding Officer, Alex Fergusson MSP.

He said: "Festivals are all about new ideas and new experiences and this year, we are delighted to reach out beyond Holyrood through this partnership. I look forward to continuing to work together to develop joint events over the coming years."

The award-winning Festival of Politics runs from August 20-23 and features 28 different sessions and events.

As well as famous names from politics, such as Denis Healey and Douglas Hurd, it also features figures from the arts, including actor Simon Callow, activist/comedian Mark Thomas and singer Annie Lennox.
