spud and tavish, the elite of scottish politics filtered thru a westminster funnel.

Whatever the question it is unlikely that Tavish has the answer.
For starters he does not trust the Scottish electorate. Many Liberals I know support what they call Home Rule and even those who disagree with Independence have no problems with the question being put to the people.

Scottish? -No Liberal -No Democrats -Sorry, No!

1) Does Mr Scott regret his party's "Two against one" democratic fraud pact with sleazy Labour?

2) Does Mr Scott now regret abstaining from the 2007 Vote on First Minister which gave the SNP power in Scotland?

3) Does Mr Scott regret his party's refusal to form a coalition with the SNP which would have seen the LibDems take more power?

4) Having refused a pact with both Labour and SNP in Scotland would he feel cheated if Nick Clegg forms one with labour or Conservative after the next elections especially if PR is dangled (again)?

5) Will the Scottish LibDems be permitted a democratic vote on the issue of cooperation with the SNP democracy ballot?

6) If Scottish LibDem members vote by a tiny majority for co-operation with the SNP referendum will he either support his members, or drop the "Lib" the "Dem" and the "Scottish" from the party name?

7) Does Mr Scott agree that holding secret talks of blocking the SNP ballots and banning members from speaking to the press (as happened at their conference) is not "Giving the people the right to determine their own future" and is a contradiction of the LIBDEM's own constitution?

8) Is there really any point is asking Tavish a question as his Bosses in London have forbidden Liberalism and killed democracy?

Who are you?

Jimmie the Pie,

Ewan Randell,

Where are you when there is someone wanting to be asked questions??

Your whole life seems to be spent asking questions(that no one in their right mind would bother to answer). Where are you now that Tavish wants a platform????
17

All the good names are gone,

04/11/2009 12:56:31
Q1: Is your party now irrelevant?
Q2: Are you miffed that the SNP are in government and not labour? (meaning you couldn't sell your soul to labour again)
Q3: Why are the Scottish LibDems out of kilter with the UK LibDems? (re referendum)
Q4: Why should anyone vote for your party? By that I mean, you're really just labour lite are you not?
18

Jo Public,

News must be thin on the ground. This story is weeks old. I commented on it on 15th October - see post #3 above. Sad that the Hootsmon can let people re-comment on old regurgitated stories, yet won't allow you to comment on the sad deaths of five more soldiers.

Does he agree that his party will pay the price at the ballot box for refusing the people of Scotland the right to determine their constitutional future?

22

#24 Steady on Gregor he'll have to away and ask Nick Clegg for the answer to that one.
23

Hobbe,

04/11/2009 16:33:11
I'd ask him when was the last time he pushed for the alleged Libdem policy on federalism, and why he abandoned this policy to join with his carbon copy blank headed unionist bedfellows and supported the Calman Commission, which he now realises was the lame duck knee jerk reaction to the SNP most of us knew it was?

A long question, with more than one question involved, but you get the idea.
24

ColinM,

I grew up a Liberal - Jo Grimmond was a personal friend of my father's and he and Russell Johnston were people I grew up knowing (and knowing me).

I worked for the Libs long before the SDP merger / takeover, and supported it (then) as giving more strength to the party's position.

I have always had a gut support for the LibDems as a result, though the loss of Paddy Ashdown saddened me, and the way Menzies Campbell had Charlie Kennedy sacked sickened me.

Now, sadly, I think poster 9 has it right. The Party's position is not Liberal, certainly not Democratic and in NO WAY Scottish.

Whether you want devo-max or independence, or just the limitations of the status quo, the Lib Dems have done us all a huge disservice by refusing to let US decide on our future.

Question 1

Why do you not put forward a proposal for a referendum on fiscal autonomy and dev max along the lines of the steel commission? (Calman has taken you for a ride).

Question 2

Your party support the euro.

a)Would you support an independent economic assessment of the economic implications of euro for scotland?
b)If it adviced that the euro would be beneficial to Scotland would you support Scotland membership of the euro (while part of the uk) no matter what England does? (this has been proposed for Nothern Ireland)
c)Would you support a referendum to allow Scotland to choose whether Scotland should join the euro?

Can you tell me why the Liberal Democrats seem more and more like an annoying irrelevance in Scottish politics whether as lapdogs to Zanu Labour in government or complete nonentities since the arrival of real government in our kingdom?
28

vitesse_skye,

Antwerp Belgium 04/11/2009 19:08:15
You look like a young clone of Charlie Kennedy without the benefit of the booze. A word of advice. If you ever want to fill Charlies brogues Buckfast works wonders.

1) Why do the Liberal Democrats think Scotland is uniquely incapable of running our own affairs and 2) What is democratic about refusing a referendum on independence?

I would like to ask Tavish Scott why he keeps making the statement that nobody in Scotland wants Independence as he seems to have a problem with asking anyone. This is an interesting as neither my Husband or myself have ever had the means of expressing our wishes, so Tavish why no agreement on a referendum?
35

morris,

edinburgh 05/11/2009 14:14:43
Does Tavish back his predecessor who said that" He knew of no instance when any political party backed the use of a referenda unless they new the outcome in advance and it was one they agreed with".
He did say it on Radio Forth before any denial takes the floor.
NOT DEMOCRATIC ANTI SCOTTISH and TOTALLY LACKING IN ANY SENSE of the word Liberal as was previously pointed out. I predict this party s removal from Scotland completely soon as an irrelevance north of the border.

It will be interesting to see if they actually ask him any difficult questions or if the papers unionist bias creeps into this as well.
