TONY Blair's globetrotting "farewell tour" before leaving Downing Street cost the taxpayer almost £725,000, it was revealed last night.
Trips to Africa, the Middle East, the United States and Europe during his final two months in office left a bill for £724,686.

The most expensive leg was a frenetic four days in May 2007, when the then prime minister visited Washington, Kuwait, Baghdad and Basra with 18 officials at a cost of £319,100.

Just over a week later, he spent £314,755 on trips to Libya, Sierra Leone, Liberia and South Africa.

There was a time when British prime ministers quietly faded into the background on departing office. The vainglorious Blair couldn't find the dignity to relinquish his presidential post without trumpets and drums to bolster his swollen ego.

He just couldn't resist that graceless, American-style, charm offensive. (With 18 officials ...?) Offensive charm rather, at criminal public expense. History should record and revile him as the phoney he (and his Newfake party) turned out to be.

That hypocritical, lying, charlatan of a war criminal, Bliar, should be sent the bill for the money.

It proves what his motivation was for getting into politics - stealing as much as he could from the taxpayer.

He should be in the next cell to kradzic, awaiting trial for war crimes!

5 - he wont. Some crimes against humanity are more acceptable to the Hague than other crimes against humanity .

Whilst Brown is (rightly) the target of all the flak at the moment it must never be forgotten that Blair was the chief architect of the current shambles.

This nasty piece of work saw that the solids were about to hit the ventilation and made good his exit leaving the hapless Brown to pick up the pieces.

Blair has of course, very astutely, slipped off the radar in the hope of repositioning himself as a 'statesman' once the heat has died down.

Some of us have long memories Mr Blair and, whilst not a religious man, I pray that your come-uppance will arrive sooner rather than later for your betrayal of those (like me) who voted for your party in 1997.

Several cells next to Karadzic should be occupied.
Blair, Bush, Brown for starters.
All have committed crimes against humanity.

Arch freeloader Blair should be raking in the expenses in his current job too!

Never before, in the course of World history, has one man milked so much from disbelieving taxpayers!

btw, I wonder how much it costs to protect the murdering son of a bitch?

Labour? Tony wouldn't know a shovel if he fell over it ... a bit like Broon at the G8 nearly planting a tree.

This doesn't inlcude the 5 days on the "Gissa Job" trip in California in July 2006. He chartered a BA 777 and there were well under 100 people on board.

However, can we please stop pretending that this is an English / British / Unionist / Scottish Labour etc issue.

It is just a matter of time before the someone in the SNP gets caught out.

Power corrupts. Sad, but true.

These Labour conmen have absolutely no shame. Let us give them the answer they deserve from the Scottish people, come the independence referendum.

Since AM2 has not commented, I will stand in for him and hope he thinks I'm worthy.

What is wrong with you people! Mr Blair sacrifices a normal family life to serve our great nation and brings us into the new millennium on the world stage where all other countries envy our superiority in all fields of endeavour, and all you lot can do is grudge him a few expenses from the public purse.
Well, all I can say is, have a look at the statistics:

Blairs expenses sheet has consistently been at least 9.374% below his nearest counterparts in their last two months:
Mugabe £4,567,765
Gadaffi £2,371,211
Mbeki £1,953,816
Bush $64,941,766
Hussein £3,777,934

You see, you ungrateful lot,how frugal Blair has been with tax-payers hard earned money and all you can do is moan, moan, moan. At the very least when his very frugal pension funded by the tax payers end, he should at least get a state funeral, he is worth every penny!!
