SECRETIVE Roman Catholic society Opus Dei is to help make a film about its founder, Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer, and hopes to attract Robert De Niro, Antonio Banderas or Nicolas Cage for the lead role.
The society is also to open up its archives.

A spokesman said: "The aim is show the world what Opus Dei is really about."

You don't mean Tom Cruise to play Ruth Kelly ? He's not tall enough is he ?

Tony Blair will play God - he has been acting the part since 1997.

My money for the Josemaria role (Joseph Mary? - was he/she an androgenous being?) is on Nicholas Cage. He is more wooden than the rain forest and I can't imagine Josemaria as the cheery type. Religion was never meant to be fun.

How did these postings get onto this site? What no intelligent debate about what Opus Dei is about? So everyone knows how it came to be? Or do you all believe what is written by Dan Brown?

I'm amazed. Call me old fashioned, but if I wanted to know about a topic, wouldn't I go to an expert in that topic?

No wonder the postings on this article are nothing short of nonsense. Your parents must be so proud of you. I see you believe only what you want to.

Thank you Maximus (#7) The dignity of "work" and the means of making the world and ourselves better as a result of making our work a prayer.... is something that most people have no clue about.

Sorry Maximus but both my parents are dead. I don't know what kind of freedoms you have in Glasgow, but where I live, everyone believes what they want to.

There are people who believe in a god, but that is their business. Some would like me to share their belief as you would perhaps like me to share yours. Thanks but no thanks. I feel no need to persuade others to join me in my belief. I don't go knocking on doors asking people not to believe in god.

I think fun and laughter are more important that what Opus Dei is all about. And if there is a next life, then I'll worry about it when I get there.

Which in my case, is soon enough. You'll be rid of me ere long. So if in a few years your hemorrhoids start bothering you, you'll know that I'm up there and its all my doing.

Lighten up, Maximus.
The postings are in answer to a Hollywoodisation of a religion. About as accurate as Dan Brown.
If you want in depth information, surf the net or join the meetings.
