Your report on the financial problems of Aberdeen City Council (5 April) fails to mention the hypocrisy of Aberdeen Trade Unions Council which frustrated all previous attempts to introduce equal pay and this has resulted in £10 million of the current deficit.
Also, the previous Labour then Lib Dem/Tory councils spent almost £50 million more than they had budgeted for during the period 2002-7.

For years, administrations have refused fully to address this problem, and it is surprising that the Accounts Commission took so long to come up with their most damning report ever.

It is very unfair to blame the SNP for the mess they inherited last May.
