That's torn it, well as far as the unionists are concerned, but isn't it strange that there always seems to be a viable alternative to what unionist politicans and their supporters in the media purport to be the truth, and lets not forget those who spout away on posts like those you find on here.

How unfortunate. Coleman's political slip is showing.

The “Celtic Tiger” died several years ago, replaced by domestic consumption and a housing boom which bolstered the headline growth rate but obviously couldn't last. Construction peaked at 30% of their economy; the European average is 6%.

Ireland is in recession, and that's projected to deepen next year. Unemployment is up 50% over the past year.

The country has uncommonly personal high debt levels: 190% of GDP, the highest in the developed world.

Ireland is running a large trade deficit. The Irish government warned only last week that their budget deficit may break through the EU limit this year.

The toll on competitiveness continues. Ireland has dropped to 22nd place in the latest competitiveness index, 12 below the UK.

I could go on.

The SNP's website still says that Scotland could be successful like Iceland, which is now bankrupt. This article seems to represent more of the same type of inward-looking self-delusion.

AM2. I hesitate to be rude but .... you are truly an idiot. When this recession is over then Ireland will still be vastly wealthier than Scotland . 30 % ? To our shame.
