ONLY 2 per cent of practising architects in the UK are from black and ethnic minorities. This is a shocking indictment of the architectural industry and one which places it as possibly the last bastion of the white middle class in professional Britain.
Research has found that the majority of young black and ethnic-minority people who, although they might have the aptitude to become an architect, still see it as an unattainable profession.
