Our primary goal during the Second World War was to ensure that others did not change our way of life. Today, we only have to pass through an airport, see concrete blocks outside government buildings, be subjected to government restrictions, be threatened with ID cards and feel the mistrust that has developed between the people and officialdom to realise our hapless government has done all it can to enable others to change our way of life.

Indeed, they have, to all intents and purposes, won.The more our freedeom is reduced, the more the objectives of the terrorists is met.

Had Brian Christly lived through the 1939 - 45 war that he refers to, he would have found himself being subjected to much greater infringements of the liberty he assumes was normal . Citizwens of alien states were interned without trial, whole areas of the country were closed military areas forbidden to outsiders, there were standing checks on identity at railway stations public buildings and ports. Roadside checks were made on vehicle movements, petrol and food were rationed, and coupons were issued for clothing and fuel.

Perhaps we live in the age when we might feel more resentment that our freedoms have been once again restricted. But in the face of continued threats worldwide made by those that would totally subvert our national values is there an alternative ?

Does Brian Christley feel terrorised?

If not, them the terrorists have not won.
