Dr Haroon Junaidi, From Edinburgh, on the Muhammad cartoons.
I would like to draw your attention to the issue of the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), that were republished in Denmark on Wednesday under the umbrella of freedom of speech.

Danish embassies around the globe have already been
placed on high alert.

In all, 17 Danish newspapers participated in the rerun, including three of their major dailies. Muslims around the world find this deeply shocking – a foolish act with apparently no underlying objectives.

I congratulate the editors for killing the spirit of freedom of speech and instigating another wave of outrage from the Muslim world that is already in disarray.

They showed us that freedom of speech is not about the right to express your ideas; it is to insult religions, invoke hatred and propagate unrest and demolishing the foundation of co-existence.

They showed how extremism can be fuelled and reactions ignited.

For the information of readers, I would like to add that it is a part of the Muslim faith to love and have the utmost respect for their prophet and, thus, guarding this value is not only of supreme importance, but an obligatory act.

And this respect does not stand for Prophet Muhammad alone; it extends to Jesus, Moses and all the prophets.

Robert F. Kennedy, said "America's answer to the intolerant man is diversity, the very diversity which our heritage of religious freedom has inspired."

Cartoons, parody, political satire, even religious satire have been long been part of the world's culture, especially pop culture. These cartoons serve to make us think. Freedom to think and freedom to reason, freedom to laugh at or laugh with the cartoon is freedom of religious tolerance.

Dr Junaidi's faith can't be very strong if it is threatened by a few cartoons which he would have to be really determined to even see. Freedom of speech is our most fundamental right and we must never allow fanatics of whatever persuasion to take it away.

I think that is not a bad comment. We have to play by the rules of society.Respect for everyone. I mean we do not say or publish things that are anti-semitic do we???

We should all behave responsibily

I would like to draw YOUR attention as to why the cartoon was published--
It was because muslims were actively plotting to murder one of the cartoonists behind the "controversial" images of the Prophet Mohammed and it was in fact an act of solidarity of a free people against muslim intimidation.-- if they (muslims) dont like the country that cares for them there are always alternatives
Whilst I have no doubt that the murder of Kurt Westergaard would have satisfied the prophet judging by what the koran and the hadiths and indeed his biographers writings have to say and also muslim history shows- it is not the way things are done in the west.
And I am sure you are also aware that the muslim jesus is not the "Christian Jesus"
Your article whitewashing muslim behaviour is pure taqiyya and intended to divert the reader away from the realities of islam
islam maintains its grip on its adherents by smothering speech of any kind (usually terminally) that questions its very existence.

It is the only religion in the world that prescribes violence-- Q.2:216
"Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you"
It would appear to me that you would be far better showing the "misunderstanders" of islam who are murdering non muslims on a worldwide scale and suppressing their religions--exactly where and how they are misinterpreting the koran

The west falsely considers islam as extremist and does a blank eye on the extremism and terrorist caused by them in the name of freedom of speech or war on terror. Muslims know how to respect their prophets whether be moses ,jejus, mohammed, etc(peace be on all of them).
