Jobs Tesco's claim to "create" 1,700 jobs in Scotland (your report, 1 October) rings hollow. Can we really believe Tesco superstores result in more employment than the smaller, less efficient, local shops that they force out of business?

Talk about thick.

Would this guy rather that jobs were being cut?

And it is the customer that puts people out business, not other business.

You don't seem to understand. Opening a shop to compete with another does not necessarily increase total employment in the long term, especially if that shop is very big.

Perhaps you would like to appologise for being offensive and answer this point.

#2 - #1 doesn't really have a lot to apologise for. You said it yourself : "smaller, less efficient, local shops" so I think the answer to your 'point' is 'yes, it looks like it'

#3. Wrong. Itchy should apologise immediately. Calling somebody thick is gratuitously offensive and besides, Richard probably is correct. Tesco will employ 1,700 people but inevitably smaller, less efficient (but socially necessary) shops will close and this will result in job losses.

No such thing as a free Tesco job.

#1 - "And it is the customer that puts people out business, not other business"...what...like it's the bullet that kills a man, not the person who pulled the trigger?
