PETER Hughes, who criticised the SNP for opposition to Trident ('Hughes attacks SNP over nuclear power opposition', May 20), has forgotten the supposed reason for going to war in Iraq - weapons of mass destruction.
How can we then justify spending tens of billions of pounds on Trident II? We can't.

Improving the transport infrastructure massively will create better jobs and improve the environment.

Rosyth would benefit by improving direct links to Europe. The Rosyth-Zeebrugge service has brought in benefits but much more needs to be done.

Because you are some sort of 'entity'?

25 billion pounds is a lot of money to waste to annoy someone. But I guess conservatives like yourself have always had a thing for big spending. Unlike the socialists, you lot like to spend it on bombs instead of welfare. Both as bad as the other.

Being in favour of Trident has nothing to do with being in favour of nukes and has all to do with being in the favour of your English masters.

Off your knees, boys and girls!

If Trident was not replaced i very much doubt if Westminster would decide to send the money to the Scots roads budget. In any case what is needed is to change the ratio of spending of 30/70% on roads/rail when rail is only 3% of travel.

Is this the same Peter Hughes , the self styled boss of "Scottish Engineering". Is this the Peter Hughes , who the Boss of Sun Microsystems refered to in those "vested self interests". I dont think this guy knows one Iota about Engineering , or the Engineering Industy. He is a self serving dinasaur offering nothing but a cushy existance for himself.
