America does not need a new cold war as they have invented a much better Bogey Man than any Russians or communists, in Al queda. This vast terrorist network has branches everywhere, is omnipoten and omnipresent and its seething ranks are filled with the most dedicated fanatics,it's not christian and they do not play cricket or by the rules and they could be and are, anyone and everyone.Perfect.

Deploying missles in the Czech republic could be construed as one notch up toward the old status quo

#5 Why you so surprised that russia and China now have some of your debt? thats the mechanisim of the market, anybody can buy bonds.

Actually if it wasnt for China and the far east buying US govt treasury bonds you would be up queer street. Them buying your bonds has kept the lid on inflation and larger interest rate rises. they know it too, if China wants to export to you there has to be demand, for demand to exist so does economic prosperity,i.e low interest rates. here's the clever part, when the $ revalues against the renimbi then you dont owe them so much!

Paddi, our national debt is a fraction of 1% of our annual GDP. You also forgot to mention that's why we are keeping the dollar where it is. Have you had a look at the UK's national debt? It's less than ours but much more per taxpayer, and you guys don't even have a petroleum bill......yet.
