Kipling,
The reel truth? 23/12/2007 02:15:15
Sorry, but an Israeli would be more worried about Iran than Libya. There were all kinds of questions unanswered about the downing of the Pan flight. the security area where the bags were kept at heathrow was found broken into, for example. But this was never followed through or treated seriously despite being on the record at the time. Pan Am was known to have lousy security, so there might be other reasons for advising embassy personnel not to travel on the company's flights. What about an irish link to the disaster? Or commercial sabotage from one of its competitors? The newspaper reports first blamed the Palestinians, only later did Libya become a target -- the government was trying to stop the arms shipments to the republicans & this was as convenient an excuse as any to turn the screw on bandido Muammar.
Well, if it becomes a blockbuster, you can say goodbye to finding what really happened -- if reachable. Perhaps this is another way of screwing the Iranians, another reason to justify the pressure to stop independent nuclear energy, mad revengeful mullahs, etc.

I say 'commercial sabotage' because this was the last straw to sending Pan Am to the breakers yard.

Thanks, witness. It was also Pan Am's anniversary year. What a sad end.
