Soldier Jon's funeral date set

THE FUNERAL of a soldier killed in Afghanistan will take place in Penicuik next week.
Sergeant Jonathan Mathews of The Highlanders, 4th Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland was killed by a single gunshot while on foot patrol in southern Afghanistan on July 28.

Sgt Mathews, known to his family as Jon, will be remembered at the Sacred Heart Church, John Street, on Tuesday August 12, with a funeral thereafter at Mortonhall Crematorium Main Chapel.
