A NEW meningitis vaccine offering better protection to very young babies has been successfully tested by teams in the UK and US.
The vaccine protects against meningitis strains A, C, W135 and Y from as young as two months of age.

Campaigners welcomed the research, but said most cases of meningitis were caused by group B strains.

At least the 'fight-goes-on' against this 'catch you unaware' disease.
Even if you are "aware" of this very dangerous illness, it can still, 'catch-you-out' (even the Doctors)

Anyone with young, Babies and Children, would be wise to learn and know, the symptoms of "Meningitis"

Lots of 'Free' information, leaflets, fridge magnets, posters, are at hand on the Web!
10-20 minutes of your time looking on this info,
'May save a Life' one day!, if not of your own 'loved ones' maybe a friend that has small children!

It can and does affect older people as well!, and has resulted in Death, so never be complacent!

My wife had a form of "Meningitis" in January last year, she was crying on the phone to me, only describing in 'Tears' she..."Was not Well"
I asked her, "What is Wrong" ?... Her reply was,
"I Don't Know"
When I collected her from work, she could hardly walk to the car, still in tears, shaking and bent over, all her limbs were aching, on our return home, I took her temperature, it measured 104F, Too ill to even get out of bed, I suspected "Meningitis", but just could NOT be SURE, I looked for the 'tell-tail-rash' all over her and she did have one, but the 'glass-test' was not conclusive!
I kept a vigil on her every 30minites, taking her temperature and looking to see if her rash was getting worse, at the same time thinking, can NHS24 help me?, maybe its 'just bad flu'?
In hindsight, I should of phoned them and would now, given the same situation.
And NO Questions for me would, enter my head, if this had been a Baby or Child!, straight to A&E I would take my Baby or Child!
But as Adults, you feel a 'little stupid' phoning for help, when you think, "I may be Wrong" and your wife says,
"I cant go anywhere, I just need my bed"
If her condition in any department had worsened that night, I would have phoned 999 for help!
Luckily her temperature and symptoms stabilized over the next 24hours (don't ask why, I don't Know)
It was a form of "Meningi

Meningitis Research Foundation welcomes the news of the new vaccine against strains A,C ,W135 and Y which could protect infants as young as two years old. Every year worldwide there are at least half a million cases of meningococcal meningitis and septicaemia. Sadly over 50,000 deaths occur and, of those who survive, many suffer deafness, brain damaage and limb loss. This new vaccine could save many lives across the globe notably in parts of Africa where there are meningitis epidemics caused by strains A and W135.
Anyone wanting more information about meningitis and septicaemia should look at: www.meningitis.org
where you can find really helpful information.

My apologies. Yesterday I added comment No. 5 as above. Unfortunately I inadvertently said that this new vaccine could protect infants as young as two years old. This should be two MONTHS. Sorry.

6 Rita, I wouldn't worry to much, I actually glossed over your post and picked it up as Babbie's Two months old.
My post though was an 'utter mess' as the finalization, just went missing and it was Too late to redo it!

I just hope some have read our comments, and visit the Meningitis web sites we put on here.
My wife works in an Nursery, so I gave her the downloaded poster for her work.
