CAMPAIGNERS fighting to save Meadowbank Stadium have urged local councillors to vote against demolition plans.
Officials have recommended bulldozing Meadowbank, selling a large chunk of land, and building new facilities west of the site.

During a previous debate, local Liberal Democrat councillor Gary Peacock voted against his own party, and sided with the Greens, who oppose demolition. Another vote was due to be held today.

Campaigner Kevin Connor said: "We call upon other councillors to follow his lead and vote for what their constituents want.

"In particular, we call on Labour leader Ewan Aitken to vote to retain the entire site for sport.

"He must have the same courage as Cllr Peacock and vote for what his constituents want."
