Irvine Welsh almost shelved book over Madeleine McCann case

IRVINE Welsh has revealed he almost scrapped his latest book about paedophiles because of the Madeleine McCann case.
The Trainspotting author said his novel Crime, about an Edinburgh policeman investigating child abuse, was the hardest book he'd ever had to write.

He reportedly said: "When the McCann case first broke I had to throw it down."
