It was most heartening to read The Scotsman's coverage of the climate change debate (4 July).
One might imagine that this newspaper was fully engaged with the issue. But, sadly, it would appear not: page 14 of the same newspaper alerts readers to the offer of a "free bottle of ... water" with every Scotsman purchased at the Scottish Game Fair. The consumption of water in plastic bottles is linked to climate change. Perhaps you might consider a more environmentally friendly incentive to purchase The Scotsman if an incentive should be deemed necessary?

"The consumption of water in plastic bottles is linked to climate change."

Hmm... yes it gets warmer and we need to drink more water ...a stunningly astute observation!

The production and delivery of water in plastic bottles, many of which are not recycled, uses far more energy (I think it is roughly about one thousand times more, but haven't checked) than drinking water from the tap. Energy use creates greenhouse gas emissions and exacerbates climate change.

Ms Cleghorn's point is entirely valid.

Eating baked beans is linked to climate change.

What should we do, tax it or ban it?

#2 Climate change?

Since when has the Earth's climate ever been static?
