Show us the Monet
After 83 years, is it not about time the National Gallery "outed" the most sensational feature of Monet's Poplars on the Epte – namely the ghost-like apparition of Monet at work sitting on his fold-up stool, right hand raised, which occupies the centre of the landscape and is divided by the trees and their reflection on the river. From a marketing point of view, surely this should be brought to the public's attention.
At least you did your bit with your free print (19 July). Perhaps a mass demo at the Mound by the international art fraternity would do the trick.
