I applaud you for recognising the meritorious services of the British armed forces in Afghanistan and Iraq (editorial, 20 May). At a time of division and political and religious turbulence, the British Army has shown exceptional courage and commitment to maintain security and rebuild the infrastructure. It is up to Iraqis now to put aside their discords, end their bloodletting practices and start building their shattered lives.
