People who carry and use knives in gang fights or unprovoked attacks on the public have no respect for human rights or feelings. As such, why do we extend such rights to them? A proper deterrent would be to bring back the birch – to be used in public. The party brave enough to do this would be given ten out of ten by every adult in the country. How about it?

I thought the nation was in thrall to political correctness, so the claim seems a tad exagerrated.

It could be said that public beatings/corporal punishment is an issue that is politically correct for many people...it suits their politics and they think it is the correct thing to do...therefore the term PC is meaningless

It would help to give them the birch and while you are at it birch the brats who throw stones at firemen.
