PEOPLE BIGGART Baillie has announced the appointment of Robin Corbett as the head of its property department. He has been a partner with the firm for 25 years and will fill the role for the next three years. It has also been confirmed that Martin Gallaher has been promoted to partner in the firm’s Glasgow office.

• THE chairman of Terra Firma Chambers, Roy Martin QC, has been made an honorary member of the Australian Bar Association. The former Dean of the Faculty of Advocates and co-chairman of the International Council of Advocates and Barristers was presented with the award by the Australian association’s president, Tom Bathurst QC, who acknowledged the contribution made by Mr Martin to the preservation of the independent referral bar.

THE Law Society of Scotland is reminding the public that the time limit for making a complaint about the conduct of a solicitor will reduce from two years to one from 1 October. This change coincides with the introduction of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission, which will also have a one-year limit on the investigation of cases.
