THE Glasgow East by-election will be a short one – polling is in less than three weeks – but it is likely to prove a memorable one. Already the main candidates are in place and yesterday MSPs and even Westminster government ministers were to be seen pressing the voters' flesh.
Many by-elections end up crystallising the national mood and this one may end up as a referendum on Gordon Brown. However, it would be a shame if the people of Glasgow East became mere voting fodder. Glasgow East has its own distinct problems and its...

Only a mental defective would want to stand in the worst possible example of Labour rule. Did a Mr Grey wish to fill the slot?
