A PRISONER awaiting trial on a murder charge has been found dead in Saughton prison.
Thomas Andrew Tant, 26, was remanded in custody at Linlithgow Sheriff Court on 23 October 2007, following the discovery of a body in West Lothian.

He was charged with murder following an incident where a 32-year-old man was found dead in East Calder following an incident at the property in Redcraig Road.

The Scottish Prison Service said Tant was found dead earlier today at HM Prison Edinburgh.

No cause of death has yet been released.

Police and next of kin have now been informed and a Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course.
