BARACK Obama will have few traffic problems getting to the Kremlin for his first summit with Russian president Dmitri Medvedev on Monday – the Obamamania that has swept much of the rest of the world is absent from Moscow; there will be no adoring crowds to greet him.
A recent poll by Russia's Levada Centre found only 23 per cent of citizens believe the US president will "do the right thing in world affairs", with many doubting his promise of change will heal antagonisms between Russia and the West.

A long list
of issues – from Nato's eastward expansion, to missile defence, to human rights, to the contest for oil and gas in Central Asia – continue to poison relations between the former Cold War superpowers.

Russian news agency Pravda was less than subtle in an editorial summing up the Obama administration, headlined: "Obama: Deceiver, cheat, swindler, liar, fraudster, con-artist."

The root cause of the antagonism is a belief in the Kremlin that relations with the West must inevitably be a "zero-sum" game – every gain for the West is a loss for Russia.

Masha Lipman, of the Moscow Carnegie Centre research group, said: "Russia has negative priorities, so-called 'red lines', such as Nato enlargement that might include Georgia or Ukraine."

But America needs Russian co-operation on a host of global issues – for example, the Start treaty limiting the number of nuclear warheads held by Moscow and Washington expires in December and a new one must be negotiated. Those negotiations will be complicated by Russia's anger at US plans to deploy a missile defence shield in the Czech Republic.

Washington also sees Russia as playing a pivotal role in the diplomatic chess game Mr Obama has launched in the Middle East and Asia, which will rely on unity among the big powers to stop Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, combat the Taleban and prod Israel and the Palestinians into peace talks.

Michael McFaul, Mr Obama's director for Russian and Eurasian affairs, said: "There are ways that we can co-operate to advance our interests, and at the same time do things with the Russians that are good for them as well."

Climate change is one such issue, and Mr Obama will also find common ground with his Russian counterpart in his two days of talks on efforts to tackle the global recession, terrorism and drug trafficking.

And Mr Medvedev is ignoring Mr Obama's criticism of Mr Putin. In a statement on the Kremlin website, he said: "The new US administration headed by President Obama is now demonstrating readiness to change the situation, and build more effective, reliable and ultimately more modern relations. And we are ready for this."

the political left or the progressives in america are now learning that obama is a puppet as bush was. but worse yet, they are also learning that the entire democrat establishment in both houses (now a majority) is embracing what they (the progressives) thought were republican policies. the left is learning today. the right learned a long time ago.

obama is in friendly territory in communist russia.

Honestly I believe Obama will get a chilly receiption and he deserves it, he has insulted Russia more often than I can count and he continues to do so. Perhaps it is more proof of amatuer hour in the White House.

I wonder what narcissistic gift Obama will bring his Russian counterpart...

...how about those stirring campaign speeches translated into Russian, or maybe DVDs showing Obama downing some Smirnoff?

Who gives a rats rear end what his reception is? Is anyone under any illusion that the Russians are our friends? Like the rest of the world they hate us. They look at us and compare it to their own miserable existence. It's much more to the point what WE think of them.

Chilly reception? I am confused. Don't they know who he is? He is bringing his teleprompter with him. He will say lots of great and inspiring things. He will compromise everything we have. He will tell them how bad America really is. My goodness he is bringing his ever graceful beauty queen Michelle. She will wow them with her fashion. So like I said, I am confused as to why they won't be there in the millions to here what the Great One has to say.

Congress, tell the American people how a natural born citizen of the United States can be governed – at birth – by British law?

No Birth Certificate needed, it is a Red_herring. At the time our contract the Constitution was put in place, there was no such thing.

When a person states their father is a foreigner. This fact alone makes them not eligible to be President.

I am amazed that educated people can't tell the difference between Native Born Citizen and Natural Born Citizen.

All our elected Politicians failed their oath of office to Guard our Constitutional Republic.

I will not vote for any of them as they all failed to defend our Constitution.

Look at what it takes to be the President, Natural Born Citizen not just a Native Born Citizen!

The United States Constitution, Article. II. Section. 1. clause 5 "No Person except a Natural Born Citizen, can be President."

Now look at Article. I. section 3. clause 3. of our Constitution were in it states you need be only a Citizen to be a Senator.

"Russian news agency Pravda was less than subtle in an editorial summing up the Obama administration, headlined: "Obama: Deceiver, cheat, swindler, liar, fraudster, con-artist."

Pravda, is more informed that the American voters.

Henry Kickson, you gotta be kidding. The US unemployment rate has begun skyrocketing since Obama became president, and you want to blame it on Bush? And here's another ridiculous statement from The One, in the face of unemployment reaching 10%, Obama proclaimed his stimulous was a success!

Amazing! I wish Obama would stay in Russia, let him screw up their country's economy like he's doing here in the US.

Garry Bell, insulting me doesn't mean you actually know what you're talking about. Under normal circumstances unemployment (the trailing induicator) takes months to years to manifest after the stock market (leading indicator) registers trouble, usually the bear market.

But if you've been paying attention to the financial news, and I have, you'd know all of the analysis agree that with the level of spending absd enormous debt that have been amassed in the last several months, all the standard patterns don't fit so well anymore.

Economically, the country is in uncharted territory, and everyone's speculating what will happen. We've never come this way before. With Rooeveldt's New Deal, he embarked on massive spending, but the difference is, the country had the money to spend. Obama and congressional Dems are borrowing and printing money to spend. And it's having a negative effect on the financial sector.

The problem is, we had a problem, but Obama's solution is not helping the problem, it's made it far, far worse. That's why the economy continues to sag. Common sense clearly points out a lack of confidence, thereofore, every sector, excpet Obama's pet green sector is suffering, so unemployment continues to rise. I have MUCH more I can say, but I'll stop here, unless you persist in posting nonsense.

Wesley Fields, you talk nonsense. It gets tiring responding to historical revisionism. What do you advocate in response to 9/11? A surgical strike? Bill Clinton tried that, it emboldened Bin Ladin.

But that's a distraction. The fact is yes, we did incurr a debt as a result in prosecuting the war. But our country had a sound economy and very low unemployment all the way till 2006.

And what happened in 2006? The Democrats took control of both houses of congress. And what was the first thing the did, took Bush's budget and bloated it to enormous sizes. And contemporaneously, the bottom fell out of the sub prime market, which was the troubled stew cooked up by Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac writing up wreckless rules for home loans and guaranteeing these loans, which caused underwriters to begin wreckless lending practices.

So Westley Fields, when you post such nonsense in defence of Obama, you run the risk of posting to someone who actually knows what he's talking about.

To those criticising Obama, just realise that Obama came to power a few months ago. That's in fact a too short period of time to judge whether he has managed or failed to materalise his promises or dreams. I think Obama still needs enough time to do that.
To the Russians, it doesn't mean much whether the US president is Obama or Bush. What matters to them is how to come back to the world theatre as a superpower.

Who cares whether obama gets a huge welcoming in Russia, what russia thinks of the us is on the low end of the totem pole of issues right now. To blame the economy on Obama is the only way for right wingers to feel better about themselves because the economy is the way it is because of the people who voted for george bush. The economy started falling apart long before obama was elected. The guy is smart but hes's not a miracle worker, not even jesus could correct the problems created through the last 8years. Honestly you people should take an actual unbiased approach to politics. Yeah it sucks that your guy didn't win but crying and jumping on the obama bashing wagon isn't going to help anything. So what if the guy uses a teleprompter, obviously he has more important things to take care of than memorizing a speech. Plus by Bush not using a teleprompter he made himself look like a fool. I would rather have my president use a teleprompter and actually study the problems he's facing than study his speech's and not really know what issue's hes facing. If Obama using a teleprompter is one of a his biggest flaws i'd take that over a lazy, arrogant, intolerant bible humper president anyday

Auschwitz Museum Director
Reveals 'Gas Chamber' Hoax

In a dramatic and unprecedented videotaped interview, Dr. Franciszek Piper, senior curator and director of archives of the Auschwitz State Museum admitted on camera that 'Krema 1,' the alleged 'homicidal gas chamber' shown off to hundreds of thousands of tourists every year at the Auschwitz main camp, was, in fact, fabricated after the war by the Soviet Union -apparently on the direct orders of Josef Stalin.

What Piper said - in effect and on camera - was that the explosive 1988 Leuchter Report was correct: no homicidal gassings took place in the buildings designated as 'homicidal gas chambers' at Auschwitz.

With this admission by none other than the respected head of the Auschwitz State Museum, one of the most sacred 'facts' of history has been destroyed. This 'gas chamber' is the major historical 'fact' on which much of the foreign and domestic policies of all Western nations since WWII are based.
