The former Hibernian player was out with friends on Saturday night when his party became embroiled in a brawl with another group on the city's Lothian Road.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

Former Hibernian midfielder Brown, who has missed recent games due to an ankle injury, is believed to have been hit on the head during the late-night incident on Bread Street, near Lothian Road.

It is understood he refused medical treatment.
