THE SNP has increased its lead over Labour in Holyrood voting intentions, poll figures showed today.
Nationalist claimed the figures, from a YouGov poll conducted for the Sunday Times, would give them 52 seats in Holyrood to Labour's 36.

The poll figures put the SNP on 39% in the constituency vote compared to Labour's 26%, and 14% each for the To
ries and Liberal Democrats.

The SNP is running at 34% in the regional voted compared to Labour's 26%, the Tories' 14%, the LibDems 13%, and the Greens' 7%.

Compared with April the SNP have gone up 2% in the constituency vote while Labour have dropped 4%.

SNP parliamentary business minister Bruce Crawford said: "On the day after the Calman Commission published its report the significance of these figures is that it would put the pro-independence parties and MSPs within touching distance of an overall majority in the Scottish Parliament, including 52 SNP MSPs and seven Greens."

But the Greens hit out at the minister's comments on independence.

Green MSP Patrick Harvie said his party thought economic injustice and the climate crisis were more important than the constitution.

"And considering the track record of SNP, Labour and Liberal ministers, there's a long way to go before Parliament has a majority to do something about either issue," said Mr Harvie.

What this demonstrates is that all the smears and lies told by New Labour (and repeated ad nauseam by their acolytes and friends who have hijacked the media in Scotland) - have had no effect whatsoever on the electors intent on getting rid of New Labour. Smearing and lies may have pleased New Labour's tribal followers but the vast majority of Scots are completely turned off by it.

The lesson here for New Labour and their media acolytes is that voters don't want Yah-boo politics - they want Scotland to be led by capable honest politicians who will properly and honestly debate about the present state of Scotland and its constitutional future.

It's a YouGov poll and therefore useless.

Is there a member of the SNP who hasn't volunteered to be on the YouGov panel?

We just had a very reliable poll taken place on June 4th.

Lets have some more like that.

That's a funny comment from Patrick Harvie. I thought the Greens supported independence? Is this a U-turn?

This poll tends to confirm the swing that we saw in the European election and suggests there is real movement towards the SNP. I suspect that, despite their media drive to sell Calman, support for the SNP will remain high. I don't think Calman is the rescue package the Unionists hope it is.

It's a yougov survey and so is not representative of the population and should not be taken as credible (come to think of it that's also a description of the 'snpgovernment')

#7. And presumably you think the Unionist parties are credible? Wake up you clown. Your day is coming soon.

Good news. I thought devolution would 'end the SNP'. Then again, what do Labour know.

Good to see that there's no sign of the extremist Brit Nat parties either.

News from the Financial Times:

1. Gordon Brown is apparently going to employ the company of Simon Lewis to try to improve his image. Lewis was hired by the Queen for the same purpose, and incidentally is the brother of the editor of the Telegraph. He was also Press Officer for the Social Democrats, it seems.

2. They are also sounding out Brown as possible first full-time President of the EU, and say some countries are warming to the idea. After all, ex-Presidents have to have something to do, and as the Telegraph says, although Blair is in the running, they really need someone of world stature ... ; ))

As long as the people vote to remain part of the union, SNP leadership will be ok until it needs to be replaced.

#3 - The percentages don't look wildy out. Why, apart from the fact you're a Lbour supporter in denial, do you think the poll is "useless"?

The SNP received over 30% of the vote in the constituencies and regional votes in 2007.

Labour are more unpopular now that they were in 2007, so the poll is more than likely pretty accurate.

#13, Media at One.

Unionists seem very happy to claim that most people vote for the Union.

Why, therefore, are their politicians so reluctant to ask the people in a Referendum?

#3, Stan Butler.

I have said, on may occasions, on these threads that OPs should be viewed with caution.

But taken together, over a period of time, they do tend to show trends.

Currently, trends are favouring the SNP and, I believe, when Calman is exposed for the sham it is, that trend will accellerate.

All YouGov polls, whatever the result, are useless.

They poll from a panel of volunteers, not from the general public.

Totally understand Stan's point. Labour people never volunteer for anything and only do anything if they are be paid.

Labour...don't U just luv them?

Bung him £50 and show him how to use a computer and Yougov have a Labour voice to balance things up.

May 2007 will go down in history as important as 1314. Why? Because it has allowed the people of Scotland to see the SNP in action.

It has allowed people to catch a strong glimpse of what Independence might be like and they clearly love what they see up to date.

It has also allowed the SNP unprecedented access to the media which has countered most of the unionist lies, smears and half truths.

Yes, 2007 and 1314 go arm and arm.

And interestingly: 2007 = 9 1314 = 9

1320 Declaration of Arbroath 2013 Independence?

This poll may have a significant margin of error but nevertheless the gap between the SNP and Labour is far greater than any margin of error; and of course it could just as easily understate the SNP lead as overstate it. It does back up most people's experience which is that the SNP Government is well-respected and gaining new converts all the time. Such a refreshing change from the previous corrupt and incompetent Labour-led administration. It's no wonder the SNP is gaining momentum.
