THE newest star in Hollywood has been out and about in Edinburgh ahead of the release of his summer blockbuster.

WALL-E, a small, unsophisticated-looking robot, is widely expected to be one of the cinema hits of the season.

Made by Pixar – the creators of animated hits such as Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille – it tells the story of the last robot, or human, left on Earth, with the film set 700 years in the future.

Ahead of the film's release on Friday, WALL-E was visiting landmarks across the Capital

The Forth Bridge (above) and Edinburgh Castle formed part of the robot's tour of the city, drumming up anticipation for the film's big release.

I can guarantee you that 700 years from now ... even the scummiest robots will look far more advanced than this recycled Number 5 from the movie, Short Circuit!

I want to put it into a huge crushing machine, and hear its whining cartoon voice smothered by four tons of metal.

Pah.

Away ya bunch of killjoys. This film looks like a bit of light hearted fun. Go see and laugh, it'll do you all good.
