Activists plan to pipe up for Scottish music

A PETITION to preserve the future of traditional Scottish music will be delivered to politicians later this week.

Activists will hold a demonstration in the lead up to Thursday's appearance at the Scottish Parliament.

The purpose of the protest is to highlight funding cuts from the Scottish Arts Council to the Scots Music Group.

Campaigners say traditional music could be lost forever if it is not properly funded by the Scottish Government.

Edinburgh piper Louise Marshall Millington, who works with the group, will lead the procession and urged as many people as possible to come along and show their support.

She said: "If you care about the future of the award-winning Scots Music Group and indeed Scottish tradition and music, please, please, sign the petition and come along to the demonstration at 1pm outside the Scottish Parliament and please wear something red."
