KENNY RICHEY'S former fiancée says he has never thanked her for spending 12 years fighting to have him freed from Death Row.
Karen Torley, 44, who made eight trips to visit Richey in prison in Ohio, also revealed he has not made the trip to see her at home in Cambuslang, near Glasgow.

Richey, 43, who arrived back in Edinburgh after being released from jail last month, has now been reunited with ex-wife Wendy.

Ms Torley, a mum-of-four, was reported as saying: "After Kenny was released he called me from his mobile – he rang every day until Wendy arrived. Then the calls stopped. But during all those times he never thanked me. There have been no flowers, no gift."

She said she did not regret taking part in the campaign to have Richey's conviction overturned, but said she was "sad" at the way things have worked out. "He asked about trains and I told him how to get here," she added. "He promised that's what he'd do."

You're better off without him, luv.

To be fair, he has spent 20 years in a high-security prison on death row. Is it really fair on him to have to travel to Cambuslang as well?

He has called her and spoken to her since he got back-- is that not thanks enough?

Somebody seems bitter methinks.

#1 fair comment. At least on death row there is always the chance of a pardon!

Nothing like airing one's dirty laundry in public.

Woman gets involved with prisoner on death row. Why?

Prisoner turns out not to be Prince Charming. Woman is bitter/surprised. Why?

Surely one of the first people you would want to meet would be the person who campaigned tirelessly for your release? Seems very strange to me.

It is interesting how this Dutch guy who served in the US military has turned up in Edinburgh, COMPLAINING that it is different from when he left 25 years earlier. Utterly bizarre - how on earth are people even entertaining him. I read another article when some drink-addled soak in a gorgie boozer shouted "Nice to have you back, Kenny..." as he left the pub. WTF???? in what way is it nice to have him? Is he some sort of favourite son of the city? He is a total nobody as far as i can see. Scotland is a really desperately parochial place at times.

not bothering to thank Karen.... 'a touch of class', not.

It would have cost him very little to invite the poor woman over to Dickens then taken her up to the scumplex for some bowling.

no 8 i think you hit the nail on the head
she is after the cash or a share of it

i think richey has more to thank his lawyers for than some 'lass fi glasgi'

didnt she split up with him before the release?
ie before he was worth anything

#10 dont think so. If it wasnt for Karen campaigning for him for all those years, no one would have known about the Kenny Richey case. As for money, dont make me laugh, shes not interested in any money from this guys misery, but a thank you would have been appropriate. Did you ever hear of the poor ex wife supporting him in all those years? no neither did i, she only surfaced when she knew he was getting released. She also kept his son from him all those years. If there is any sour grapes in this case, its the ex Wendy who has them. Maybe her lack of campaigning has made her feel inadequate, and Kenny having to publicly thank Karen, would put her lack of support in the spotlight. No, Karen doesnt want his money, or anything from the guy. Thanks would have been enough. She has done so much to help this guy and is delighted that with her help, he is now free. Thats the most important thing in this case, and all that she ever wanted!

There's no excuse, as good manners cost NOTHING!

I grew up thanking people even for the smallest things they've done for me. Thats down to my ma :)
It does bother me, but there really is no accounting for people's taste and I instill the same values in my child as those I was raised with ~ including saying thank you, please, excuse me and sorry .............. people who don't say thank you are simply behaving the only way they know how.

Nothing wrong with being polite & being polite is free.
However, I'm doubtful at this present time that he will come forward, ask for the list of names and leave his thanks and thoughts for all those that assisted in his freedom.
I mean, if the lawyer and Karen can't get a thank you, what chance is there for for anyone else down the list?
I've resigned myself that this is a one off, cause after so many years in this field I guess there is always going to be the one person who isn't grateful for what has been done for them.

The sooner this loser is slung out of Great Britain, the better. This total low-life has seen fit to take, take, take from the people of Britain, and has now turned up here looking for more. The Americans had the right idea in my opinion. Deportation. Why is he in this Kingdom at all?

I could be wrong, but didn't he thank her outside the courthouse immediately he was released?

Sure, if you consider, "See ya' around, sucker!" a proper thank you.

I would like to post in support of Karen,I met her personally and she is a genuine person. It hadnt gone past me that in all the publicity there was not one thankyou from Kenny.

This lady campaigned tirelessly at great personal cost to herself(and Im not talking money here).
Kenny has alot to thank her for.I think they did have some kind of disagreement but he should be man enough to put that aside and give her the thanks she deserves. He would not be in Scotland or indeed free,if it hadnt been for Karen. As for money,I can assure you shes not interested.
Karen is a lady who you would want on your side if you were in trouble.
I dont doubt her loyalty to Kenny for one moment.
Sadly its disappointing the way he has conducted himself since he was released, though I do try to make allowances-he has been to hell and back.
