US immigration officials have given Kenny Richey an American passport allowing him to enter the country – even though he is banned from visiting with his British one.
The former Death Row Scot's criminal conviction means as a UK resident he isn't allowed to go the country.

But as Richey, 43, is a dual UK/US citizen, he has been granted an American passport meaning he is free to enter the country.

He now plans to travel to the States and see his family as well as fiancée, Wendy Amerud, in a bid to patch up their relationship.

He said: "I really hate that country but I have to put that to one side so I can see my family. I want to give my son Sean a big hug and hold my grandkids for the first time. I want to visit my father, who is dying from cancer, as he doesn't have much time left."

Richey, from Edinburgh, won't be visiting Putnam County where he spent 21 years on Death Row. As part of his plea bargain he was banned him from entering the area for five years.

He added: "I'll be visiting Wendy to hopefully sort things out."

"I really hate that country"

That country really hates you.

Who's paying for this trip? Isn't it going to interfere with his, cough, job search? If Amerud doesn't show him the door, she should be institutionalized.

i read elsewhere that his father has disowned him due to the cocaine, His son wants to 'punch his lights out' due to his like of 16 year old girls, and his ex-wife intends remaining his ex-wife.
methinks he just craves the publicity the trip would bring.
Or am i being cynical?

to add to my previous not: if Richey hates the US so much, why is he coming back? Is the reason really because he wants to gamble and can't at his former gambling mecca in Scotland? wonder if he plans to go to Vegas or Atlantic city? Leave your money here kenny. it may helf defer costs of your incarceration.

Can we not just leave kenny the hell alone! It's not even worthy of a story.

He's served his time and is now free so leave him alone!!!

btw if I had been on death row for 21 years you can bet your life i'd probably have a drink or drug problem! If I had any mind left.

# 15 so lets just assume that it was your innocent daughter/sister/cousin/niece or whatever that the sicko torched, then I can assume you would still be fighting his corner. And by the way, you don't spend too many days on death row if you aint guilty. (DAYS). I actually sat 4 days in his trial, because I grew up with him and was serving with NYCIS......now you all know who I am. He is a sick F****R and a smear on the good people of Edinburgh.

In the absence of any mention of the source of this claim, other than that of the GRATE man himself, the veracity of its content must surely be regarded as reliable as the "mouth cancer", "job search" and his explanation of the "cocaine" stories.Did the EEN verify the accuracy of the story or were the words, KENNY and RICHEY sufficient for them to accept the claims as authentic ? The point has long since been exceeded where the EEN have become culpable in their handling of "Richey" material, to the extent that they are compounding the the risks to an obviously emotionally volatile individual who may well end up sectioned under mental health regulations.
21

Dragonlord,

26/06/2008 19:52:25
21 No!! Don't section him. He costs us too much already. Lets just hope he crawls under a stone and dies.

There was no one who grew up with Richey in Scotland at his trial.

"#15 btw if I had been on death row for 21 years you can bet your life i'd probably have a drink or drug problem! If I had any mind left."

He had drug and alcohol problems before he was sent to prison. He has a personality disorder. Although age may slow it down somewhat (with his lifestyle and health problems, he should drop dead any month now), he's never going to change.

Why does he get sooooooooo much coverage in the EEN? The guy is a waster. EEN is no better than gutter press nowadays.

Can UK customs officials prevent him returning to the UK, using either of his passports? Pretty please.
