FORMER Death Row prisoner Kenny Richey is in talks about a television film on his life.
The 43-year-old met with producers in London last week over the project, which is still in its early stages.

The film would cover his time in the United States as a Marine before spending time on Death Row after a child died in a fire he was convicted of starting.

The movie would also document his release and his attempts to return to normal life in the Capital.

Richey said: "I've had discussions with the company about doing the film for the BBC.

"The producers mentioned approaching Ewan McGregor to play me. I think he would be perfect. They are coming up to Edinburgh soon to spend time with me and find what I've been up to since prison."

London-based firm The Producers, confirmed it had held talks with Richey.

Kenny, you think Ewan McGregor is perfect to play you.

Ewan is a successful, intelligent and often thought provoking actor who has enjoyed meteoric success in his industry, won the admiration of his peers and embarked on adventures crossing continents that also significantly highlighted various charities along the way.

Kenny Richie is a fat useless ex death row con, out on a technicality, who lives on and off in his mothers bedroom, 'pretends' to take drugs and spends his time drinking and complaining about how much harder life is for him than everyone else to the local rag.

In what way is Ewan perfect Kenny?

Kenny, you've never helped another human being in your life, what makes you think you deserve this attention, you idiot.

It would be more entertaining if Kenny Richie was selected to portray the life of Ewan McGregor.

Or James Naughtie.

It is interesting that although London-based firm The Producers, confirmed it had held talks with Richey, they failed to confirm Richey's quote, "The producers mentioned approaching Ewan McGregor to play me. I think he would be perfect. They are coming up to Edinburgh soon to spend time with me and find what I've been up to since prison." Mr.Richey has habitually made unsubstantiated statements in his burgeoning tabloid media excursions. Ewan McGregor is an accomplished actor who would convincingly portray this chancer for what he is.
PS. The Producers can save themselves a trip to Edinburgh to find out what Kenny has been "up to since prison" by visiting Google news where a comprehensive catalogue of Richey japes can be found.

Basically , I think Ewan Macgregor would say No. He doesnt need the money and he strikes me as someone with a wee bit more integrity than this.

Sooner this fat clown dies the better, sorry but thats the way I feel.

I was present when the "set-up" from the news of the world took place (in kenny's flat) also he was in my flat when he got a call from the en about the above story. all you eejits that think you know the story (not the tabloid mickey mouse sh1@e you have obviously read and beleive) take a little bit time out and read the facts about the case! www.kennyrichey.com then maybe you will start to have a little bit of an idea. then get to know the "real" man, gentle, trusting!!!(turned over more times than a kipper!!!) and muddled! at least the en have the decency to report things as they are, well done en!and all you who think this and that, get a real life, do not judge people on tabloid facts! there is a real world out there and real people.no one will ever know whats going on in kenny's head, of course he's going to make mistakes? no one is perfect, cast the first stone comes to mind!

I met Kenny Richey last week when we had a work night out in our local pub.

He would scuttle around the pub, quoting 'so, who knows who I am then?'

Then he picked a fight with someone, who got thrown out. Then someone else, and it was the third occasion of fight spoiling before he was himself, asked to leave.

Kenny, you are a cretin and nothing else. We do not need a film to further prove that point.

How is planting your ass on a barstool night after night an "attempt to return to normal life"?

"Then he picked a fight with someone, who got thrown out. Then someone else, and it was the third occasion of fight spoiling before he was himself, asked to leave."

It won't be long before he picks a fight with the wrong person and ends up getting his ass kicked. Now, *that* I would be willing to pay to see pictures of.

Kenny has not been forthright with anyone ever, I supported him on deathrow and never even got a call back to thank me, I spent thousands on collect phone calls...and tried to help him....I think if the public ignores him, he will go away, cause what goes around comes around...I know he was wrongly convicted and spent half his life in hell, he is not being a good person with his second chance....
37

LynCLeath,

14/07/2008 06:48:25
Further more Ewan would never do his story, he has class, Kenny got released from the military because of his ex-wife Wendy complaining about his behaviour, read Death Row Scot, his brother who is a convicted killer wrote the book...At first I thought he was a decent person, then I discovered he is a USER OF PEOPLE..and he'll keep doing it till he is dead, which will not be long with his health concerns... again what you do comes back to you...

Ewan McGregor, you far too good looking to play the part of a big fat ugly numpty! a geezer who is absolutely no good to society who should have been done in and hanged in the States!
44

SHELDON THE CRACK DEALER,

Why is there this movement to turn a maladjusted, borderline character whose every utterance since release suggests he's learned nothing and takes no responsibility for the situation he found himself in and still views violence as an acceptable way to resolve a dispute into some kind of hero?

Did he deserve to die? - No
Did he deserve 21 years? - No
Does he deserve to be victimised now he's out? - No
Should he be turned into a hero? - No!

The guy is a borderline sociopath - making a flm about him really will convince him of just how special he is - that's what psycho's believe about themselves!

Just leave him alone and hope he becomes a better person (no sign of that yet)...
45

sam t.,

20/07/2008 01:30:35
Did he deserve to die? - Yes.
Did he deserve 21 years? - He deserved death.
Does he deserve to be victimized now he's out? - The better question is, does the public deserve to be victimized by Richey?
Should he be turned into a hero? - Again, the better question is should people turn a blind eye to his criminal and asocial behavior?

There is nothing borderline about it: He's a sociopath and sociopaths do not become better people.

So, now he is alleged to have beaten up an old man. Richey admits that he knows the guy and that he dislikes him. His threat to resist the police if they try to take him down to the police station for questioning is icing on the cake.
46

sam t.,

20/07/2008 20:31:14
Richey is a laugh a minute. He tells the press that if they police come for him, they better bring machine guns, because he's not going with them. So, the police arrest him on the street without incident. Supposedly Richey lent this old man 300-400 for some tax evasion cigarette scheme. As of now, they let Richey go, but I bet he's pushed a head his long delayed trip to the US.
47

sam t.,

26/07/2008 20:48:08
You need to keep up, Scotsman. Richey has struck again! Anytime he thinks he's going to be arrested, it's the old chest pains or suicide attempt. Didn't work this time. The question is: is his court appearance on Monday for beating the old man or for stealing from the estate of this dead aunt? You decide!

You wanted him out of the joint, now you're stuck with him.
48

sam t.,

27/07/2008 13:36:44
I feel like I'm the reporter here.

1. Kimberly Lee was the "model" Richey bragged about having a three way with.

2. Kimberly Lee reported to the police that Richey accused her of stealing his wallet and held a knife to her throat. Later she retracted it.

3. Richey now claims that after having a row with his girlfriend, Kimberly Lee, he climbed up on the roof to get away from the police when his arm was cut by barbed wire. If that doesn't make sense to you, you're right. Try this instead: After Lee cut his arms and threatened to kill himself she called an ambulance and then old Kenny climbed the roof and threatened to jump. Yeah, that makes more sense. As does that when she reported he held a knife to her throat she was telling the truth and that her retraction to the police was the lie.

Anyway, a big thank you to the entire Richey family for continuing to supply us yanks with unlimited schadenfreude.
49

sam t.,

27/07/2008 17:03:10
Correction: After Richey cut his arms and threatened to kill himself she called an ambulance and then old Kenny climbed the roof and threatened to jump.
