A 15 year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Midlothian teenager Jodi Jones.
The mutilated body of 14-year-old Jodi was found on a woodland path near her home in Dalkeith on 30 June. A prolonged police investigation over 12 months failed to discover any leads until this arrest despite the involvement of 40 police officers, interviews with 3,000 people and advice from the FBI.

"We can confirm that a 15-year-old youth has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Jodi Jones," said a Lothian and Borders Police spokesman this morning. The police refused to give further details of the suspect.

The 15-year-old boy was expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow charged with murdering Jodi. Meanwhile police forensic teams were today carrying out examinations at a house in Jodi’s home town of Dalkeith.
