IRAN has begun installing 6,000 new centrifuges at its uranium enrichment plant, the president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said yesterday, defying the West.
The United States and Israel said the move showed once again that Tehran intended to ignore UN Security Council demands to halt sensitive nuclear work.

France suggested major powers may have to toughen sanctions.

The Security Council has, since 2006, imposed three rounds of limited sanctions on Iran for refusing to stop enriching uranium.

And, of course, the Israelis threatened yesterday to leave Iran a pile of ashes. This they can easily do as they have around 2 to 300 nuclear warheads; and no doubt they can get plenty more from their sponsors and paymasters, the Americans.

Why has the Security Council not demanded that the Israelis get rid of all their nuclear warheads? Why have they not imposed sanctions against the Israelis for their continual refusal to obey hundreds of General Assembly and Security Council resolutions?

Oh, I forgot, the Americans would veto any moves against the Israelis.

#1 Guga, Iran has been saying the nuclear development is for peaceful purposes only, do you really believe that mate? The Israel thing aside, if Iran does manage the build the Bomb they're going to use that to dominate their neighbours and other MidEast countries as well. Don't forget Guga they may be a Muslim country but they're not Arabs mate, they're Persian and I don't think there's a lot of love lost there.

Guga...you bet YOUR life they would veto it. A tiny country surrounded by huge countries wanting her destroyed...that HAS to be able to defend itself.
If you really believe the fairytale that Iran is NOT building bombs..then you are a head case. They are just likely to go after the US and Israel both. "Big Satan"..and "Little Satan"..that is their agenda.

Meanwhile, they are willing to share their knowledge and bombs to anyone interested. (Thanks to Ahmadinejad)..Next purchaser...Al Qaeda..and The Taliban.

That is their agenda again. Wake UP..the minute they get a bomb..they become the "big guys" in the Middle East.

So far they have been funding, training, and fighting in Iraq..how much more proof do you need..the dead Iranians in Basra who were fighting? Signed IEDs?

Iran has been forewarned by Israel.. If they attempt to attack her, or do attack her..they will then be destroyed. Again she will be defending herself.

I often wonder whether you ever read the material you write before posting them. If so, have you ever noticed your own prejudices and your squint view of the world? The lopsided prejudice in relation to a people about whom you know, as evidenced by your sheer ignorance, absolutely nothing; but towards whom you bear this level of vile hatred?

I have often used your posts as reference to show how brainless nuts ooze out their baseless hatred based on prejudice rather than facts. So keep them coming, I have found a use for them.

Guga II, ye are a sweet one aren't you? There must be a DNA link to Chamberlin there. Maybe you and Fortunado are even related also. Or, ye are one and the same. Come on slackers, let me have it. Ye just love slammin' righties. Ye best keep in mind: "Man's inhumanity to man makes countless thousands mourn." To unleash the Iranians with nukes is suicidal and utterly stupid. Of course you wouldn't know anythin' 'bout that would ye? I hate to think of a mushroom cloud jest outside ye window along the Clyde and ye screamin' "Why didn't ye stop 'em?" We use say:"Fools look to tomorrow. Wise men use tonight." Wise words.... contemplate!

"Wouldn't the world be a more peaceful place if all Israeli Jews were transported to the USA"

...I couldn't agree more, that is absolutely the most appropriate solution.

Regarding the POSSIBILITY that Iran is arming itself with nuclear weapons, that would be a good thing as the concept of mutually assured destruction is what keeps the peace.

However, given the shameful behaviour of this US administration and its hidden agendas regarding the middle east, there is no chance that the US would take in Israeli Jews, at least not with the current incumbents in the whitehouse.

There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that “Iran Nuke” is anything but the figment of imagination of some warmongering people in the USA and many in Israel, setting the scene to justify military action for the benefit of their war based economies. No evidence, but much unsubstantiated allegations have been flying around ever since Iran said they were going to pursue their nuclear research for production of energy. Historically Iranian society has always been more stable than Pakistan which is nuclear armed. Similarly it has been considerably more humane than Israel – another nuclear armed country- that has infringed all human rights of everyone in their occupied territories and neighbouring countries, ever since it came to existence – albeit that Iran is currently experiencing a difficult transition in its long history caused by the ineptitude of its leaders. However, even assuming that all the lies that are being spread around in order to start a second Iraq were true, (and until solid evidence is produced, in my opinion they are not), then I would rather see Iran with a nuke making sure they would not be attacked by hostile USA and Israel, with “righties” like you and Lynne, Palm Beach Gardens standing around shouting hurrah. This certainly does not represent a link to any Chamberlin in anyone’s imagination, save perhaps yours.

mike - across the pond,

you guys are good 09/04/2008 16:16:06
YOUR lovely government CREATED the problem in the middle east... (lets look at the "protectorates"... then lets look at bankrupting Germany after WW1... then lets look at appeasing hitler...).... or do you just not wish to think about those little things?

at the SAME time you screwed up persia so badly that now it TOO is a nuclear powder-keg... pakistan/india...

Like a true bunch of intellectual inbreds you decide that it would be a GOOD thing to remove Churchill right in the middle of Pottsdam... so that delightful little Joey Stallin gets to drop the iron curtain across europe... ever wonder how pottsdam would have turned out if Churchill had the lead with Truman backing him up... rather than the raw inexperience of Truman with the whelp Attlee...

care to talk about opium and China?

hows about Africa?

look at Germany Japan Korea THOSE would be American success stories.... where's YOURS??

so you want the US to back away from Israel... so the spawn of the sociological cess pit YOU created can push them into the mediterranian? have you NO pride... NOR conscience?

hows about in 1917 if we decided to let the Kaiser have his way with you....? what then?? without the US, you never would have prevailed... of course then hitler never would have happened...

hows about if in 1939 we had decided to let you sink in the cess pit you had created there???

oh and if you dolts had left CHINA in a better way, rather than just running off to the other side of the planet... maybe Japan would have had a more worthwhile adversary there...

geez... grow a pair.... on EITHER end of your torso... either to shoulder the burden that being a leader of the free world requires.... or the stones to support those leaders if you cant bring yourselves to BE those leaders....

Poor old Chamberlin, do you think he had any choice? Do you think when he was waiving that little bit of paper he wasn't working on rearmament while delaying what he knew to be inevitable?
Don't fantasise too much Dave, 1939? I don't think so, we had to let the Japs do Pearl Harbour to get the Yanks into the war. Korea a US success, that's like the English celebrating 1066. As for UK success stories how about not getting involved in Vietnam? And we sold buses to Cuba.

I'm a tellin' ye, when ye get smacked by the Iranians, ye'll be beggin' tha yanks to pull ye nuts out of the fire agin. We owe a lot to 'em. By the way, would ye happen to be one of those disciples of the wee mayor of West Palm Beach? The last time I was there, she was feedin' ye some nice drinkin' water. Maybe it has gone to ye head. GugaII...does the phrase.."wiping off the map" ring a bell? Ahmadinejad has said it, Hezbollah has stated Israel "will disappear", and Hamas has in its charter to destroy it. Since Iran funds and arms both Hamas and Hezbollah..Israel does have the right to forewarn them..

>"Hezbollah has stated Israel "will disappear", and Hamas has in its charter to destroy it..."

Yes, but according to some here they are OK because they are not Jewish. It's OK to hate and destroy if you are not Jewish. It only counts when you want to destroy and you are Jewish.

No Europeans owed money to Palestinian moneychangers, did they? That means that they are A-OK! Remember this isn't about right/wrong, religion or WWII - it's about hating people that are perceived to represent the moneyed classes. It's a historical habit.

No war but the class war and all that rot.

Haven't you figured out how this works yet, Lynne?? ;)

>"if all Israeli Jews were transported to the USA..."

Once again, the crowd claiming to be anti-ZIONIST keeps blowing their attempted 'cover of respectability' and re-surfaces as merely Jew-hating.

Why don't you say 'if all Israeli Zionists were transported...' ?? You'd transport all Israeli Jews, if they supported Zionism or not?

The staff and publisher of 'harretz.com', whom is splashed all over the 'Comments' section here because of their criticism of Zionism would be 'out, out, out'!

You racists posing as 'anti-Zionists' need to put a sticky-note on your monitor to remind yourselves that you're supposed to use the word 'Zionist' instead of 'Jew' so that your 'Combat 18' underwear won't show.

Have any of ye considered what the Jewish people want to do? They are a sovereign nation ye know. Even though it was formed by the UN. It is still a nation. Most of the Arab/Muslim nations are made up of boundries drawn by those brilliant European minds after the first world war with no input from anyone else. Now, the Arabs/Muslims blame it on Israel.

Really? You pass yourself off as someone that knows what the Jewish people want?

1. Do ALL 'Jewish' people support this? Nope. Read 'Harretz'.

2. Do ALL 'Jewish' people support this? Nope. Again, read 'Harretz'.

3. Is this true? Nope, your 'Straw man'. You have no understanding of what constitutes 'Palestinian self-respect'.

4. What implies that they are guilty of any - your verbose opinion? War crimes presided over by whom - the UN - constituting China, Syria and Iran?

Don't pass yourself off as anything more than a 'one-trick pony' that is simply incapable of viewing anything more than the one side of the story.

At least you guys are finally dropping your phony 'Anti-Zionist' facade and going with your more honest, visceral 'anti-Jew' tirades.

guga, i read lynnes post. I didn't see any mention in lynnes post about nuking anybody. A'jad is the front man for a group of religious fanatics who believe that destroying the world isn't such a bad idea provided that the only survivors are Muslims. If you don't know that by now then, of course, there's no convincing you. They aren't building nukes to take on the US. They aren't building nukes for self-defense.

They are building nukes to blackmail their neighbors. If they obtain the nukes they will be successful in their blackmail because everyone believes that they will use them without compunction. You may not believe it. Most people aren't blind and can see exactly what they Iranians are up to. And here is the calculation they make.

Suppose we are wrong and the Iranians had no intention to build nukes. What happens? They get their facilities flattened. But suppose we are right, but, out of an excess of caution we do nothing and the Iraqis build a bomb, give it to a terrorist group and they use it to incinerate, say, Glasgow.

There's a couple of choices for you, which one would you choose?

25

mike - across the pond,

ah yokel... your "grasp" on history is WEAK.... 10/04/2008 14:05:28
chamberlin??? you would be referring to NEVILLE ChamberlAin I take it.... his debacles would start with nazi appeasement... progressing to more bungling of the british protectorate... and goofing up ireland so badly that it would take 50 years to straighten out.... not a great historical reference to put a yank into his place is it there pal???. lol... and you guys claim we americans have a poor grasp on world history.... ROFLMAO....

no I was referring to CLEMENT ATTLEE... UK PM from 45-51 took over from Churchill in the middle of pottsdam... pretty much dooming eastern europe to nearly 50 years of totalitarian marxist regimes.... he would be the UK's LBJ... disaster incarnate...

Korea... I was referring to SOUTH Korea... which last I looked was a DEMOCRACY... and is the ENVY of North Korea.... and again that division is yet ANOTHER product of Pottsdam... (can you tell that I am not a great fan of Harry S Truman?)

dost thou quibble?

and blackbeard no... I dont want to agree to "take" any Israeli... they have their country... they love it enough to die for... they are doing just fine right where they are.... who are we to ask them to leave it.... btw.... the israelis took the Gaza from Egypt in '67... turned it into a vibrant farming area... because of world pressure they turned it back over to the palestinians .. and the palestinians have turned around and SouthAfrican-ized it... destroying everything the israelis did.... no WONDER the israelis wall it off....
