Man dies after fall on Skye mountains

A 64-year-old climber has died after a fall, police said today.
The man, from the Midlands, was one of a party of four who had been climbing the Am Basteir, in the Cuillin Hills on Skye.

Police were alerted at about 2.50pm yesterday after the fall.

Skye Mountain Rescue Team and Stornoway Coastguard helicopter attended the casualty, who was taken to Broadford Hospital, Skye.

Northern Constabulary say that no further details of the deceased are being released.
