Children 'give too much away online'

ALMOST three-quarters of children admit they have given their e-mail address, a photograph of themselves or their phone number to a stranger they met online, according to a new study.
Researchers found 73 per cent of 1,000 youngsters aged seven to 16 had given such details to someone they had not met.

Sounds like many parents need to get their act together, and not allow their children to get on the Internet unsupervised.

Easy to say Cadgers, but unfortunately not as easy as it sounds, especially for older and teenage children.

Better to sit them down and explain the rules about going online. And reinforce this from time to time.

Internet access is the way the world works now, and the sooner that our youngsters are aware of how to use it responsibly, the better.

But teens will be teens, and it is not straightforward.

Daft daughter got the fright of her life when she put her mobile number on BEBO - a site I personally think should be stopped. After getting texts and calls from an older sounding man she removed it and has learned a very important lesson.

She knows just how lucky she was.

BEBO is a great way of keeping in touch with friends. If your child is tupid enough to put her mobile number online then no wonder she was getting texts. Also with sites like bebo you can stop people looking at your page unless you know them so again it was her fault and not the sites.
