THE Prime Minister yesterday warned that those responsible for the murder of Briton Edwin Dyer in Mali would be "hunted down and brought to justice".
Speaking after hostage-takers claimed they had carried out their threat to kill Mr Dyer, Gordon Brown condemned the "appalling and barbaric act of terrorism" and said: "There will be no hiding place for them and no safe haven for terrorists who attac
k our country."

Mr Dyer was one of four European tourists taken hostage on 22 January as they returned from a cultural festival. They were held by al-Qaeda's North African wing, known as al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).

Mr Dyer, who had been working in Austria and spoke fluent German, was on holiday in West Africa with German travel operator Oase Reisen.

He was abducted, along with a Swiss couple and a German woman, near the border with Niger after attending a festival of nomad culture at Anderamboukane in Mali.

At first it was believed the hostage-takers were Tuareg rebels, who have regularly clashed with Mali's army, but in February AQIM claimed responsibility.

Two of the captives were released in mid-April, but days later the terrorists issued an ultimatum, warning they would kill Mr Dyer unless the UK freed radical cleric Abu Qatada within 20 days. The deadline was extended by 15 days to 30 May, but frantic efforts to secure the safe release of the Briton failed.

In a statement issued yesterday, AQIM said: "The British captive was killed so that he, and with him the British state, may taste a tiny portion of what innocent Muslims taste every day at the hands of the Crusader and Jewish coalition to the east and to the west."

Mr Brown said: "This tragedy reinforces our commitment to confront terrorism. It strengthens our determination never to concede to the demands of terrorists, nor to pay ransoms.

"I want those who would use terror against British citizens to know beyond doubt that we and our allies will pursue them relentlessly.

"I have regularly discussed this case with the president of Mali – he knows he will have every support in rooting out al-Qaeda from his country."

Foreign Secretary David Miliband pledged that Britain would continue working to secure the release of the Swiss man still being held by the group.

Qatada is being held in prison in the UK as he fights an attempt to extradite him to Jordan, where he faces terrorism charges.

The Law Lords ruled in February that he can be deported, but his lawyers are appealing against the verdict, claiming he faces torture if he is returned to the Middle East country.

He was first arrested in the wake of the 11 September attacks on the United States and has been described as "al-Qaeda's spiritual leader in Europe".

It is understood that Mr Dyer, who was in his early sixties, lived in Austria.

This is a tragic and brutal story. That any human being should go through such an ordeal is proof that our species can be ruthless and sickening.
How scared must the poor man have been? And to have suffered the company of these brutal barstrds for so many months not knowing what had happened to his wife. Well need we even say any more about his pain?

Brown saying that they will hunt these barstrds down is good, but why hasnt it already been done? Tell me why it is that all of a sudden the British government want to catch these guys but have NEVER insisted that the efforts to catch Bin Laden be intensified?
What is going on? How deep does this war go and who are the REAL people behind it? I am beginning to believe that our enemies may be closer to home than we can possibly imagine.

The Prime Minister warned "those responsible for the murder of Briton Edwin Dyer in Mali would be "hunted down and brought to justice".

Just how the hell are you gona do that Broon, you couldne find your own ar*e with both hands.

Do you seriously think those in Al-Qaeda give a sh*t about what you say or think.

Get real, if you were a man at all you would have had the Boys in there looking for these Hostages.

"The British captive was killed so that he, and with him the British state, may taste a tiny portion of what innocent Muslims taste every day at the hands of the Crusader and Jewish coalition to the east and to the west."

Your such a great leader Broon, you, Blair, Bush and Chainey have this mans blood on your hands but like every other disaster to happen under your watch, you will just shrug it off eh! Your an Odeous creep of a man, I'm surprised we still have an army left, If I were still in the Forces I would be sorely tempted to resign my commission under your command, because basically, the people have zero confidence in your ability to anything but make a total c**t of it.

If caught the poor wee things would probably be tagged and given a community service order - of wait a minute is that not what happened to Abu Hamsa? And the Guantanamo Bay claimant who was practically given the red carpet treatment.

Never mind Al Quaeda in Mali, how many have we got here? Brown's own open door policy to legal and illegal immigration and swindles like Pakistani (let's stop this euphemism of "Asian" please) entry to schools in the UK mean we are wide open to this sort of thing domestically.

No votes in it so it's just an empty soundbite for Brown but an absolute tragedy for Mr. Dyer's family.

After the recent debauchle it would appear Britian can't even deport failed assylum seekers, after how many failed attempts to apply for assylum and denied at every turn, the Great British Taxpayer paid for a chartered flight to take this woman and her child back to the country of her origin and from where she was born only to find the authorites at the other end denied her access. We the taxpayer had to then stump up to bring her and her bairn back in to the UK, that plus the five other CID officers out on a jolly to get shot of and we couldn't even get that right.

The UK is the worlds dumping ground for all the rubbish of humanity and Broon and Co have let it happen.

If that had been down in OZ, the boys in Blue woulda just turned about on their heels and said tuff F**king luck mate shes your problem now.

This country is a f**king Joke.

Has anyone heard of Liberty International trying to get these people freed? Have we heard them speaking out against this gross barbarianism perpetrated in the name of the religion of “Peace”; or is that taboo?

Does Liberty International just find Western Governments and judicial systems to be soft targets?

this business of hunting down the perpetrators has become a joke. we have been in this mess since 2001 and not a single one of them has been captured!!! we hear once in a while that one has been killed but who is going to believe that???in fact who is gonna believe anything our government says???
they are all in it for money. the longer this virtual war against virtual terrorists continues the more it makes money for them. war and terrorism makes money but only for a certain group.the elite society!!!

We are at War and the Labour party have been singularly unable to accept this situation for over a decade.

Osama has a clear plan published on line since about 1998 detailing the intentions of his network.

eg. Drawing the US and Europe into expensive wars to drain the economies and weaken the military

Withdrawing Arab finance from western stock exchanges

9/11 cost him £500K but cost the US billions

Create and exploit conflict zones to draw in Jihadists from around the world, unlimited supply of man power and AK47 and bullets to train and maintain the drain on military forces of west.

Bin Laden's support in the Islamic world is rising, in the middle east he is a legend restoring Islamic pride and hitting back against the great satan.

He wants to unite the Caliphate and he wants to be caliph and then call defensive jihad or the great march of the Umma. All must heed the call to arms.

He is very clear about his aims. Sharia Law for the whole world and death to the Western Culture and people who resist Allah.

We should remove our military and leave them to kill each other. They hate Iran and want to exterminate the Shia we should leave them to fight it out from Europe.

We are killing our sons so certain big corporations can exploit the mineral wealth of these nations.

We should withdraw aid, military and economic. Let them pray to allah for assistance.

Sudan, Pakistan, Afghanistan let them solve their own problems. If we make them strong we just have a bigger fight to win.

As our forefather watched hitler arming so we watch the middle east. History does not repeat exactly but it does provide many lessons.

Islam is trouble. We need to let it divide amongst itself and reform. While we are they in Saudi Arabia and Iraq and Pakistan and Afghanistan and all the other Islamic countries they can blame us and unite in hatred against the west. Withdraw and let the Muslims who wish to live in the west like westerners stay and the Salifist can be sent home.

"Abdel-Bari Atwan, editor of the London-based daily al-Quds al-Arab"

Quoted on the Bin Laden story wrote an excellent book called "al-Qaeda" in 2005 that has some very excellent predictions about western economies and the military being stretched to breaking point globally chasing shadows. Bin ladden expected to cost USA $700Billion!!!

The book is a little too pro bin ladden for my personal tastes but very well informed and provides some excellent Jihadist background information. Bin Laden is clear about who he is and what he represents and his goals are clear and long term. He is clever and determined. He is a veteran fighter to defeated the USSR.

He is fighting against people like Bush, Brown, Sarkozy, Blair who could not fight there way out of a wet paper bag. Who would crumble at the first sign of trouble and are basically political talkers but mental wimps. Bin Ladden would cut your head off personally then eat dinner.

Bin Ladden is a multi billionaire who rejects luxury and lived in a cave for 20 years with his people, like his people and for his people. Fights with his people and is trusted, respected and loved by his people.

We have no leaders like this. We have great soldiers but ministry of defence is run by numpties.

Jihadists want a dirty them and US war. our leaders just want to hide under the bed and pretend their is no cultural conflict.

Wakey, Wakey. There is a Cockoo in the Nest.
