THE shine is starting to wear off the Scottish Parliament, it was confirmed yesterday. The coating on oak poles on a canopy over the public entrance is now nearing the end of its life. Holyrood staff are seeking treatments with longer life spans.
The building was formally opened by the Queen in October 2004, three years late.

A good use for the old brewery (devolved administration) site could be the re-siting of the German war memorial building in Edinburgh castle moved down to the bottom of the mile to stand opposite the gates to the palace.

So after 3 1/2 years it has come to the end of its useful life. Hope that the rest of the building will have a longer life!

What can you expect when the building was so cheap??

I suggest we sell it to anybody that will have it and move the Scottish Parliament to the old Royal High School building which is where every single person I have spoken to wanted it in the first place.

Georgian buildings become more beautiful with age - modern buildings soon lose their shine.......
