HIBS have been presented with a Saltire to take with them on their travels in Europe.
Edinburgh-based MEP Alyn Smith made the presentation to the club ahead of their InterToto cup second-leg clash with high-flying Swedish team IF Elfsborg.

The gift is part of a wider set of presentations that will see Mr Smith celebrate the qualification of all five Scottish league teams for European cup competitions.

Mr Smith said: "We Scots are well liked in Europe, and it is great to see such Scottish success in Europe.

"This presentation comes as much to remind ourselves that although the national side may not have participated in the European Championships this year, there are still plenty of quality Scottish teams to be showcased in Europe.

"It is a fantastic achievement to be participating at the top level of European Football, especially when qualification places were so hotly-contested in the league.

"I look forward to watching the games ahead, and I am sure Hibernian FC, like all Scottish teams who qualified, will do a sterling job in representing our nation on a big stage."

We were gash yesteday' simple as that! You have to ask whey we are entering such a competiton at this point of the year when all we do is tarnish our proud european history, not to mention damage Scotland European co-efficent.

We should leave well alone.

Celtic were established by stealing (typical weedgie thing even way back then!!) the Hibs players, so that makes us the BIG Brothers.
You can also stick your inferred bigotry remarks where the sun dont shine.

So, this saltire flag will be in mint condition for another 107 years of pain.

I don't think that Alyn Smith actually understands how clubs "qualify" for the inter-tattie.

11 I think you have a very good point indeed.

You dont know whether to laugh or cry really.

First this plonker comes out with a statement like that , then Hibs Crash the day before but it's still printed.
