VLADIMIR ROMANOV was today asked to consider another managerial candidate for Hearts as the Dutchman Anton Joore, a former FBK Kaunas coach, put himself forward for the job.
Joore told the Evening News he would be "very interested" in working with Romanov again after parting company with Kaunas last year
The 53-year-old is currently unemployed but speaks fluent English and can point to a varied and cultured coaching background.
His CV includes managerial positions with ADO Den Haag as well as the Kazakhstan club FK Almati and Al Arabi of Qatar.
He is also a former assistant coach of the Kazakhstan national team but believes that his experience and intrinsic knowledge of Romanov's footballing philosophies would work well at Hearts.
"I am very interested in the job. Hearts are a big club which I know well after working at Kaunas," said Joore.
"I worked closely with Mr Romanov and enjoyed my time in Lithuania. I know how he wants to operate, we worked well together and I would like the chance to work in Scotland.
"At the moment, I am at home waiting. I have not had any contact regarding Hearts but I know they are looking for a manager and that is very appealing."
Lothar Matthaus, Germany's former World Cup-winning captain, has submitted an application to Tynecastle but his wage demands would be likely to exceed Romanov's budget by a considerable margin.
Another former Kaunas manager, Angel Chervenkov, returned to Hearts yesterday as the club's new reserve coach. He is assisting fitness coach Tom Ritchie with pre-season preparations until Romanov appoints a new managerial team and took his first training session yesterday. However, the Bulgarian's re-appearance was not well received by players or staff at Riccarton.
Ritchie has altered the players' planned pre-season training schedule to place greater emphasis on general fitness work, but Chervenkov is now influencing the sessions and implementing his own ideas having been given licence to do so by Romanov.
The Evening News can confirm that Christian Nade has returned to Riccarton but has been unable to train yet due to a groin complaint. The French striker was a week late for pre-season due to illness.
