COD liver oil can reduce the need for anti-inflammatory drugs by almost a third in patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, according to new research.
A nine-month study carried out in rheumatology units in Edinburgh and Dundee found those who took the supplement were able to reduce their intake of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

One researcher, Professor Jill Belch, said: “This offers hope to many rheumatoid arthritis patients. Cod liver oil supplements can offer a natural pain management treatment without the harmful side effects that can be associated with anti-inflammatories.”

Indeed, it is probably an excellent cure as its long term use may kill so no further problem! It has been known within the field of medicine for a number of years that polyunsaturated fats of which cod liver oil consists are potent suppressors of the immune system; just a moot point that has been judiciously overlooked so the question that remains is, why? Of course, with a reduced immunity good health is hardly likely to be in one's favour. Google for the information, it is available on the Net which our good Professor Jill thought we would not notice. Incidentally, anything that thins the blood has the potential to cause embolisms but possibly the medics never noticed the connection.
