RECENT correspondence in this newspaper and elsewhere has highlighted some of the significant challenges that delivering healthcare in remote and rural communities present to health service providers.

The fact remains doctors got a huge increase in salary for doing much less work - and they're still complaining about it!

The truth is they got a reasonable pay increase for a reasonable increase in workload. What they are complaining about is that most have had little or nothing extra and some of them have seen a reduction in pay of up to 20% since 2006 despite achieving everything that they were asked to do!

Sorry if the facts don't fit your prejudices.
