ABORTION, the wearing of veils for reasons of religion and male circumcision are among the topics tackled by new advice from the body that regulates doctors in the UK.
The General Medical Council (GMC) yesterday published guidance telling doctors not to let their personal beliefs “compromise patient care”.

The GMC says its document, entitled Personal Beliefs and Medical Practice, which has also been published on...

Some forms of female circumcision do *less* damage than male circumcision, and one form is the exact equivalent. Even making an incision on a girl's genitals is illegal though, even if done in another country, whereas we're now being told that UK doctors must "assist" a family that want to have the most sensitive part of their son's genitals cut off. We don't get told to recognise the "personal beliefs, values, and cultural and religious practices" of parents requesting female circumcision, so why is male circumcision different? Do boys not deserve the same rights as girls? Whose body is it anyway?

The fastest way to end female circumcision is to end non-medical male circumcision at the same time.

Mark Lyndon @#4,

Yes another good point!

A Baby aborted at 39weeks gestation is dammed out Murder!

A Girl or Boy circumcised at an age of parental control usually at under 10years!

Is disgusting! and they expect our Doctors to respect this,?

I only hope, if there is any God out there, this will NEVER happen in the UK, or we will become,
'Lesser than Animals'!

The GMC guidance states that to deny Islamic or Jewish parents the cutting of their son's genitals could be seen a breach of the parents' human rights. Amazing!

If the GMC were to actually bother to read the declaration they'd find it says exactly the opposite. The right to practise a religion may be limited when it threatens another person's rights; the right to security of person is absolute.

The GMC also comments that they cannot take moral stances; they just follow the law. This is disingenuous - i believe they stopped harming little girls sexual parts before it became illegal. Ethics are a key part of medecine as the vow to 'do no harm' demonstrates.

What we need is some Jew to sue their parents and through them the medic that mutilated him.

As for abortion it is pure and simple MURDER.

I wonder also about the female Islamic Dr. (not educated in Afganistan!!) will she be permitted to do males?

what if there was a suicide bomb gone off and she had to triage males, would she be permitted to stand aside while males died coz she could not look at their privates?

I am a Jewish man. I have very strong feelings against this practice. As much as I otherwise love and respect my Jewishness and my Jewish heritage, I can not forgive the religion and culture for what it has caused to have happened to me.

As to whether circumcision reduces sexual pleasure, I have heard contrary opinions, including contrasting opinions from men who were circumcised as adults. Some have complained of lost sensations. Some have complained of reduced sensitivity. Some both. Likewise, many have said that it has had little effect. And yes, a few men have said that it has had a positive effect. Whether I am such a victim or not, I will never know. I only know that I resent what was done.

The conclusion I draw is that while circumcision does not always have a negative effect on sex, enough men have lost sensitivity and/or sensations as a result that it should not be done to a male unless it is his own choice regardless of religion.

The bottom line and most important point to me is this: It is my body. No person, parent or not, had the right to allow my body to be mutilated - especially for a religion they never even believed in. It is the man whose penis is involved - and only the man whose penis is involved - who has the right to say whether and what part of his penis should be amputated.

If I were to ever have a son, I would raise him to be proud of being Jewish, however I would allow him to make the ultimate choice as to whether he should be circumcised (religiously or otherwise) when he is old enough to make an informed decision and has had the opportunity to be aware of the possible consequences.

Well said, Steve. I am neither Jewish nor religious. One of my two younger brothers was shockingly circumcised (in Scotland) while too young to know, when in hospital with a routine children's ailment. I think it is a vile practice, especially when carried out without the victim's knowledge or consent, all too often under the lie of "health".

As to whether it diminishes or accentuates sexual pleasure, I can only relate my own experience. For the uncirumcised me, the eventual pleasure is intense. Upon entry to my lady's special place there is instant pain as uncircumcised gives way to enforced drawback. This prevails for a couple of minutes (brings tears to the eyes actually!) until it gives way to relaxation. I choose to remain uncut for every good reason.
