COUNCIL officials have sent a letter to the head of NHS Lothian in a bid to secure more funding for the city's under-threat crèches.
It is hoped that health chiefs can be persuaded to subsidise the Edinburgh Leisure facilities, which are often used by mothers with post-natal depression.
Crèches due to close at the end of the month, because of a £300,000 drop in council funding for Edinburgh Leisure.
Last month, Labour Leith councillor Gordon Munro successfully passed a motion calling on officials to explore alternative funding sources both within and outside the council in an effort to keep the facilities open.
