THE Braveheart Fund raises money to support promising young Scottish road, track or mountain cyclists.
Brian Smith, former British champion, Motorola professional and Giro d'Italia survivor, set up the fund in 2003, since when more than £100,000 has been raised, helping more than 50 cyclists in everything from travel to accommodation. Last year, more than £30,000 was distributed to 28 riders, including members of the recently launched Braveheart Academy.

Money is raised through an annual dinner, auctions of memorabilia of cycling heroes, including long-time supporter Chris Hoy, and the fund receives a percentage from the purchase of their all-in-one cycling jersey and shorts (left).
