KENNY MacAskill, the justice secretary, yesterday accused the UK government of failing to tackle the misuse of firearms and air weapons.
Mr MacAskill said the Scottish Government, police and public wanted tougher action to prevent the misuse of the weapons but claimed Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, has refused to allow Holyrood to draw up its own laws.

Speaking during a Holyrood debate, he said: "If London wants to take action, that is fine. But do it they must. If not, they must give the powers to us to do so."

Mr MacAskill earlier announced plans to host a UK summit on firearm regulation.

He described the current lack of control of air guns as "ridiculous and unacceptable" and called for air weapons to be licensed in the same way as all firearms.

The Scottish Parliament currently enjoys the devolved power of law enforcement and the power to enact legislation with regards to matters pertaining to domestic law enforcement.

It is no longer up to Westminster, (read it and weap, AM2), to legislate on matters of civil consequence in Scotland.

We do not need any more brain-dead restrictions. The only people any additional legislation will affect are those who operate within both the letter and the spirit of the current legislation and use their firearms responsibly.

It will have no effect whatsoever on the tiny irresponsible minority. I can just see it now...

"Oh Dear! The illegally held gun and ammo I've got is now even more illegal. I'd better turn it in then."

Yeah, like that's really gonna happen.

See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it

We are hitting £106.9 a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £1.10 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't
continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever
thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join in!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take a ggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place
not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not
purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's
really simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the
message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and
pass

Westminster did act on firearms. Gun crime doesn't exist anymore because our great leader. Herr Tony Blair, banned them in 1997. Hail our beloved former leader and his benevolent wife.

Trust the State.

Do you think shops should be allowed to sell replica weapons to the public?
Yes, if used properly they are just harmless fun.
Yes, but there’s no demand for them so what’s the point.
No, they could be mistaken for the real thing.
