Haul of guns set to go out with a bang
A HAUL of shotguns, air weapons and other firearms that have been handed in to police were set to be destroyed in Edinburgh today.
Around 800 weapons have been handed over to Lothian and Borders Police during an amnesty over the past six months.
The haul also includes replica guns and other imitation weapons.
The weapons were set to destroyed this morning using specialist cutting equipment at an undisclosed location in the Capital, before being taken away for disposal.
Assistant Chief Constable Bill Skelly said: "This operation is a welcome part of the force's drive to remove dangerous weapons, including imitation firearms, from circulation."
